Handsfree by Anna Meredith has been used to soundtrack Prada’s spring/summer 2014 video campaign (above), directed by Stephen Meisel.

The essence of the piece, which calls for clapping, body percussion and beatboxing, is reflected throughout the campaign, itself featuring body slaps and shrill vocals.

Handsfree was commissioned for the PRS For Music Foundation as part of the New Music 20x12 series on the NMC label. When completing the work, Meredith worked closely with members of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, who performed it at the 2012 Proms (watch below).

Two other works by Meredith, Nautilus and Ocra, also accompany the photography.
