Prom 1: The First Night
The 2017 BBC Proms opens with a dance and a shout. Celebrate John Adams’s 70th birthday with his masterpiece Harmonium. Award-winning pianist Igor Levit is the soloist in Beethoven’s ground-breaking Third Piano Concerto.
Prom 4: Daniel Barenboim and the Staatskapelle Berlin
The programme included Elgar’s Second Symphony – a ‘passionate pilgrimage of the soul’ and the UK premiere of Harrison Birtwhistle's Deep Time.
Prom 8: Celebrating John Williams
The BBC Proms celebrates the 85th birthday of the world's favourite film composer, John Williams. The BBC Concert Orchestra and conductor Keith Lockhart perform some of the best-loved music in cinema history, including movie magic from Star Wars, Harry Potter, ET and Indiana Jones as well as lesser-known gems from John Williams's extraordinary back catalogue.
