The Royal Opera House today announced the opening programme for the Linbury Theatre, its newest performance space. The theatre is designed by Stanton Williams, the architects responsible for a new university campus in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, a new research building at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Eton Manor, designed for the London 2012 Olympics.
With 406 seats, the Linbury Theatre is an intimate space, with plans for its opening season including a Royal Ballet work set to a David Sawer score entitled Blue Moon, a new staging of Handel's Berenic as part of the London Handel Festival and the UK premiere of Janáček's song cycle The Diary of One Who Disappeared.
