Beethoven's Triple Concerto - Fidelio Trio with Farnborough Symphony Orchestra

Beethoven's Triple Concerto - Fidelio Trio with Farnborough Symphony Orchestra

Saturday, January 19, 2019 - 19:45

Farnborough Symphony Orchestra's opening concert of 2019 is a celebration of the number 3! The principal work of the first half is Beethoven's Triple Concerto, scored for piano trio (violin, cello, piano) and orchestra and composed in 1803. We are very excited to welcome the Fidelio Trio as soloists. Shortlisted for the 2016 Royal Philharmonic Society Music Awards, the Fidelio Trio are enthusiastic champions of the piano trio genre, performing the widest possible range of repertoire on concert stages across the world. The other major work in the programme is Schumann's Symphony No. 3, which was premiered on 6 February 1851 in Düsseldorf, conducted by Schumann himself. Although it received mixed reviews, ranging from praise without qualification to bewilderment, the audience on the night apparently applauded between every movement and shouted "hurrah" at the end. To preside over the three works in the programme we are delighted to welcome guest conductor, Johann Stuckenbruck, who has recently completed his studies at the Royal Academy of Music and who is currently working as Assistant Conductor at Glyndebourne. He will no doubt be hoping for an equally enthusiastic (but possibly more restrained) audience response. Photo © Hugo Glendinning.
