Motet | Cantores in the Cotswolds (chamber choir)
Motet | Cantores in the Cotswolds (chamber choir)
For its winter concerts in 2012, Cantores in the Cotswolds present major sacred choral works by Bach, Palestrina, Mendelssohn and Eric Whitacre, where the composer is responding to dramatic events from the Psalms and The Testaments.
We sing of Mary at the foot of the cross, of the Egyptian army engulfed by the Red Sea, of the Jewish people at war with their neighbours, of King David grieving for his son killed in battle, or the human soul contemplating its end on Earth.
Many different styles but one aim: to intensify the drama and, in so doing, draw the listener into an inspiring and dazzling sound-world.
