The Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse and its Music Director, Tugan Sokhiev, pay tribute to three great French composers. Saint-Saëns’s Third and most striking of his violin concertos dates from his most successful period of writing, and tonight it is brought to life by Alina Ibragimova. “… whatever she plays, it’ll be worth hearing.” The Times. Berlioz’s dazzling Symphonie fantastique is always spectacularly new – a fantastic autobiography in sound, full of the composer’s angels and demons, his love and life, his restlessness and the peace he imagined in the countryside. The concert opens with the exotic melody and elusive harmonies of Debussy’s dreamlike prelude.
