Out of the Blue | Barts Chamber Choir directed by Ivor Setterfield

Saturday, June 29, 2013 - 19:30

Barts Chamber Choir is a 40-strong chorus, directed by acclaimed conductor Ivor Setterfield and performing in prime London venues such as St-Martin-in-the-Fields Trafalgar Square, St James's Piccadilly, and Kings Place. Accomplished jazz pianist Chris Lee and his band will accompany Barts Chamber Choir and Joanna Forbes L’Estrange for a unique performance of Will Todd’s Mass in Blue.

The blue palette of this concert will also feature a selection of exquisite a capella pieces, and movements from the jazz suite “Waterscapes” by Chris Lee.

"Will Todd's Mass In Blue is a setting of the Latin text like no other. [...] The work's driving rhythms, catchy melodies and irresistible exuberance swept both audience and performers off their feet." William Ruff / Nottingham Evening Post

"Todd's love for both jazz and choral music is clear throughout the work which skilfully blends the two genres to stunning effect." John Manning / Herts Advertiser
