Oxford Proms - The Best of Mozart

Oxford Proms - The Best of Mozart

Thursday, August 15, 2019 - 19:30

Our proms programme includes 2 of Mozart’s iconic creations, a premiere, and a popular opener by Handel.

Mozart’s Piano Concerto No 21, written in 1785, when he was only twenty-nine, just six years before his early death is sometimes referred to as the Elvira Madigan, after a now otherwise long-forgotten film that featured the work. The Clarinet Concerto, completed in 1791, the year of Mozart’s death, marked his farewell to instrumental music. It was also the first clarinet concerto to be written by a major composer.

Our concert on August 10th was to a full hous and there were 5 soloist encores. Seats are unumbered and unreserved except for the first 2 rows at front which can be purchased from Oxford Proms website directly up to 1pm on the concert day. Tickets (unreserved) will be available at door from 6.45pm. To be sure of your tickets text name and number of tickets required before 6pm.
