This week we've got not one but two tracks for you to download. Both are from a production of Dvořák's opera Rusalka, recorded live at Glyndebourne last year. Starring Ana María Martínez as Rusalka, the daughter of a water sprite who falls in love with a human Prince, the production features the London Philharmonic Orchestra under Jiři Bĕlohlávek.
Your first download is the chorus 'White blossoms along the road' ('Kvĕtiny Bílé Po Cestě'), sung by the guests at the wedding feast for Rusalka and the Prince. In the second download, Rusalka pours out her heartbreak at being cast aside by the Prince for a human Princess ('Rusalko, Znáš Mne, Znáš').
'Martinez is a near-ideal heroine,' writes Michael Scott Rohan in BBC Music Magazine. 'Her silver tones are naively yearning and tragically resigned, with an unforced sense of pathos.'

Great music and intriguing samples of an exciting performance, but awful presentation! Not even a fade out. I suppose the idea is to encourage sales, not to provide free goods, but this was pretty grotesque! We'll see how it goes next week...
There are no words to express what is happening on this recording: it is so alive, full of adrenaline and musically so thrilling. A real success, bravo to the whole Glyndebourne team, great job!
A truely fantastic opera from a great composer at a great opera festival what could be any better.
We saw this at Glyndebourne. Magic.
Surprisingly, my download managed to handle the wonky Czech alphabet they have used.
