Five-star Clementi from Howard Shelley

Your free download this week is from one of Clementi's Six Progressive Sonatinas, first published in 1797. We've chosen the energetic Presto from the Sonatina in G, Op. 36 No. 5, performed by Howard Shelley (Hyperion CDA 67814).

'Shelley's playing is exemplary, with a gloriously fluent technique and a most perceptive interpretational approach,' writes George Pratt in the July issue of BBC Music Magazine, in which the recording is given a five-star review. 'The Six Sonatinas here prove particularly nostalgic, core repertoire from many a pianist's childhood.'
