This week's free download is Schumann's 'Chopin', a movement from the German composer's 1835 piano cycle Carnaval. It is played here by 30-year-old Russian pianist Vassiy Primakov, whose new disc of Schumann works  for the Bridge label (Bridge 9300) received a glowing review in the March issue of BBC Music Magazine.

'On the evidence's of this disc, it not hard to understand (Primakov's) success,' wrote reviewer Misha Donat. 'This well recorded Schumann recital is one that gives rare pleasure.'

Quite simply . . . a beautiful piece. As a poet/writer, I often look to pieces of this nature to enhance my inspiration. So melodic, but short. Beauty can obviously come in small packages.

The man's playing is an absolute delight. Very short extract but good.
