Three-time BBC Music Magazine Award winners the Jerusalem Quartet took our Chamber choice slot in the July issue with a stunning recording of Schumann’s Piano Quintet and Piano Quartet.
This week’s free download comes that five-star recording on the Harmonia Mundi label, and is the second movement (In modo d’una Marcia. Un poco largamente) from the Piano Quintet in E flat major – performed with pianist Alexander Melnikov.
Writing in the July issue of BBC Music Magazine, our critic Erik Levi said: ‘The Quintet offers playing that is deeply felt but never indulgent or mannered’.
