For Christmas Eve, we’re giving away a free copy of pianist Angela Hewitt’s performance of Debussy’s ‘Clair de lune’.

The work comes from the composer's Suite bergamasque and was originally called  ‘Promenade sentimentale’. The French pianist Jacques Février said that the work was ‘the first to date of the great sonorous landscapes of Debussy.’ And it is one of the composer's best known and best loved works.

Hewitt’s recording, on the Hyperion label, was given five stars in the December issue of BBC Music Magazine. Our critic Christopher Dingle wrote: ‘This generously filled disc finds Hewitt utterly persuasive… Special mention should be made of “Clair de lune”: it is quite an achievement for its lyrical beauty to be heard afresh.’
