Haydn provides this week’s free download. The track we’re offering is the opening movement of the Sonata in F, Hob XVI:29 in a performance by Marc-André Hamelin.
The recording, on the Hyperion label, is the third double album in Hamelin’s Haydn series and brings together 11 of Haydn’s Sonatas.
Writing in the July issue of BBC Music Magazine, our critic Bayan Northcott said: ‘The playing is outstanding for its crystalline tone, springy rhythms, lively tempos and integral handling of ornamentation.’
