Bach and his rivals | The Bach Players

Saturday, October 5, 2013 - 20:15

In 2012 we performed the audition Cantatas for the job of Kantor at St Thomas’s by the three main contenders: Telemann, Graupner and JS Bach. We follow the three composers' progress one year later with Cantatas for 30 January 1724, the 4th Sunday after Epiphany. The Gospel for the day describes how Jesus fell asleep in a boat amongst his disciples and how he calmed the storms. We complement these Cantatas with Telemann’s Water music 'Ebb und Fluth'.

Prepare for an evening of stormy weather!
