Steinberg Duo - The Russian Violin

Steinberg Duo - The Russian Violin

Monday, June 3, 2013 - 19:30

The Steinberg Duo are rapidly establishing themselves as one of the few performers to present violin and piano repertoire as an equal partnership with recent performances in Canada, Spain and Germany and throughout the UK. "... spine-tingling music... afterwards it was difficult to imagine the works being interpreted in any other way..." RemoteGoat

Formed in 2007, the duo are passionate about presenting the wonderful violin and piano repertoire as an equal partnership, and having married in 2008, they are perhaps unusually well-placed to do so! Over the last three seasons they have established a successful recital series in 1901 Arts Club. In January 2012 the duo spent three weeks in residence at the Banff Centre. Committed to supporting high quality contemporary music, the duo enjoy a particularly close association with composer Philip Sawyers, from whom they commissioned a second violin sonata which premiered in June 2012 at 1901 Arts Club. They will also be making their first commercial recording with the Orchestra of the Swan in early 2013, performing Sawyers Concertante for Piano, Violin and Strings.

The Club's exclusive bar and lounge are open for the enjoyment of ticketholders half an hour before the performance. The performers also invite you to join them there after the performance.
