Free performances around London
Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, Coates’s London Calling and the world premiere of Sir Richard Rodney Bennett’s Chelsea Reach. Budding instrumentalists will also have the opportunity to play alongside the BBC SO in a Family Orchestra event also taking place at the shopping centre.
The orchestra’s day out on Thursday 25 June is part of the BBC Proms Out and About scheme, which has been running for seven years, and last year saw the BBC SO performing at Heathrow’s Terminal 5.
The BBC Symphony Orchestra (BBC SO) is trading the concert hall for the streets of London this summer. In a day of free events, musicians from the renowned orchestra will be popping up in venues around the UK capital, ranging from the Natural History Museum to Waterloo Tube Station, to serenade the public.
Nearly 100 musicians from the orchestra will then congregate in the recently opened Westfield Shopping Centre in West London to give a free concert. The programme will include Britten’s
