Jazz Legends in their own words
A look back through the BBC archives uncovers some of the greatest names in Jazz history
As part of the Old Masters, Rising Stars season on BBC Four, this film delves into the BBC archives and explores the words and music of some of the greatest names in Jazz history.
In a long-forgotten archive, which includes specially shot interviews, the film encapsulates the lives of musicians from the Golden Age of Jazz. From Louis Armstrong, the first great soloist, to the ever-suave Duke Ellington and the pioneer of bebop, Dizzy Gillespie.
The season also includes a documentary about Nat King Cole, the BBC Young Musician Jazz Final and Jazz 625, another film featuring fantastic performances from the BBC Archive.
