Michael Tilson Thomas conducts the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Mahler’s Third Symphony, accompanied by a host of singers – the Choristers of St Paul’s Cathedral, the ladies of the London Symphony Chorus and soloist Sasha Cooke.

Tilson Thomas takes us on a journey through this colossal work (a typical performance lasts 90 to 100 minutes - Mahler’s longest piece), which explores the wonder and glory of nature. From hibernating wildlife emerging from a long winter, to a grand finale and its celebration of divine love, listening to this masterpiece is surely the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
