Mozart: Piano Concertos Nos 21 & 23

For this month’s cover CD, we have delved into the BBC archives for sublime performances of Mozart’s Piano Concertos Nos 21 and 23 performed by Clifford Curzon, a British pianist who had few peers in this repertoire. Never previously released on CD, these recordings, which date from 1976 and 1963, reveal Curzon’s acute attention to every detail and nuance, his beautifully polished sound and his sheer sensitivity in works whose exquisite central movements are among the best loved in the repertoire.
