Clean Bandit (pictured above), John Grant and Culture Club will all join the BBC Philharmonic in its 2014 BBC Philharmonic Presents… series.
Broadcasts across several BBC radio and television channels from 10 September to 17 October 2014 will showcase diverse uses of the full symphony orchestra with well-known artists from other genres.
Highlights include a live performance of a new symphony based on electronica artist Clean Bandit’s debut album, New Eyes (2014), on Radio 1 (10 September); performances of tracks from John Grant’s album Pale Green Ghosts (2013) with the singer on Radio 6 Music (3 October) and a special recording of the Culture Club’s Colour by Numbers album (1983) for Radio 2.
Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker can be heard on Radio 4 presenting a special edition of his award-winning series Wireless Nights (13 October) and the Asian Network will celebrate the music of Indian film composer RD Burman with the orchestra and singer Sona Mohapatra (15 September).
General manager of the BBC Philharmonic, Simon Webb, says: ‘Following successful BBC Philharmonic Presents… performances in 2011 and 2012, the series returns to celebrate the launch of BBC Music with an outstanding line-up of varied and imaginative collaborations across our national radio networks.’

Works from the BBC’s recently-announced Ten Pieces initiative will be performed for a live simulcast between Blue Peter on CBBC and In Tune on Radio 3 (9 October).
The final event of the series will be a reflection on the First World War featuring a serving soldier’s story (17 October).
