An online shop selling BBC TV broadcasts as digital downloads has launched today, 5 November 2015. Concerts from this summer’s BBC Proms and the 2008 season will be among the programmes featured in the BBC Store, along with historian David Starkey’s four-part series Music and Monarchy.

The 2014 Carols from King’s service will be available, along with a documentary 60 Years of Carols from King’s, marking the Cambridge college choir's anniversary last year. The classical line-up also includes André Previn at the BBC, broadcasts from the Leeds International Piano Competition and High Notes and Sore Throats, a programme celebrating 50 years of the Edinburgh Festival Chorus.

Other arts programmes in the store include the documentary series Arena and episodes of Omnibus. New programmes will be added to the store each week, featuring a mixture of recent broadcasts and archive footage.

The BBC also sells its TV programmes on DVD and Blu-ray and digitally via iTunes, Netflix and Amazon Prime, all of which will continue. The BBC Store will be accessible via BBC iPlayer and there are plans to launch a BBC Store app in the near future.

‘We want BBC Store to do for digital ownership what BBC iPlayer did for catch up,’ says Marcus Arthur, MD of BBC Worldwide, which runs the BBC Store.
