The Scottish Chamber Orchestra has announced that Emmanuel Krivine will be their new Principal Guest Conductor, starting in September 2015.

Krivine has enjoyed a close relationship with the orchestra since the late 1990s and this announcement comes ahead of his performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the orchestra and chorus.

SCO Chief executive Roy McEwan said he was ‘delighted’ at the decision, stating that it ‘follows many memorable performances over the years and is a natural strengthening of the relationship between Emmanuel and the Orchestra.'

Krivine commented: ’I am really happy to be joining the outstanding artistic team of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. I look forward to realising some exciting projects in the future across a broad spectrum of repertoire, to refining the musical language that we share, and to closening my relationship with Scotland and its audiences.’

Krivine follows on the footsteps of distinguished past SCO Principal Guest Conductors, including Estonian Olari Elts and the late Sir Charles Mackerras, who also held the position of Conductor Laureate until his death in 2010.
