Last October we asked you, the readers of BBC Music Magazine, to help cellist Matthew Barley (right) choose some of the venues for his 'Around Britten' tour. (See the blog the team wrote about it here…)

You came up with caverns, castles, churches, swimming pools, rocky outlets, and Matthew chose his favourite venues to include in his tour.

Now, we'd like to invite you to come and meet both him and members of the BBC Music team at one of the venues – The Great Barn at Newby End Farm near Penrith in Cumbria on Wednesday 11 September at 7.30pm.

The programme is called 'A Cycle of the Soul' and will include music by JS Bach, Dai Fujikura, Jan Bang, James MacMillan and, of course, by Benjamin Britten, whose centenary falls this year. Plus, before the concert, there'll be a question-and-answer session for BBC Music Magazine readers, hosted by editor Oliver Condy, and a drinks reception after the concert.

To buy tickets for the concert visit Matthew Barley's website or email david@newbyendfarm.co.uk. Tickets cost £13 (£8 for students), but if you quote BBCMUSIC you will receive a £2 discount per ticket.
