The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (OAE) has announced a series of live-streamed concerts, which will take place on the last Tuesday of every month.

Part of the OAE's The Night Shift series, in which the orchestra performs period music in pubs, the live-stream will allow audiences around the world to participate. During the evening, members of the orchestra will talk to the audience, and take questions from YouTube viewers. 'Chamber music was written to be played in domestic settings not to a hushed, seated and reverential audience,' said leader of the OAE Maggie Faultless. 'I've never experienced anything like the way people listen down the pub.'

The OAE performed its first Night Shift in 2006. 'It's a little-known fact,' says Matthew Truscott, another leader of the OAE, 'but our pub audiences are our connoisseurs: in the close, intimate atmosphere we find people listen very hard, and they respond to honest engagement.'

The first live-stream will be broadcast at 8.30pm on Tuesday 26 July from The Old Queen's Head, Islington, and you can watch it right here! Simply press 'play' on the video below when the live-stream begins at 8.30pm.
