Baritone Wolfgang Holzmair and pianist Russell Ryan perform Schumann's Dichterliebe, a setting of 16 poems by German Romantic poet, Heinrich Heine. The sublime texts touch on themes of love and loss, nature, and summer sunshine, inspiring works not only by Schumann but a number of other composers including Meyerbeer, Wolf, Kinkel, Liszt, and Ives. A selection of these settings will also be performed. This is the fourth in the series of lunchtime recitals live from the Rodewald Concert Series at Liverpool's St George's Hall.
