Win a recording of Glyndebourne’s ‘Billy Budd’
Sir Mark Elder conducts a cast led by Jacques Imbrailo
This year marks Benjamin Britten’s centenary and in the January issue of BBC Music Magazine we’re marking the occasion with an in-depth look at his life and music. We’re also celebrating by giving away ten CDs of the composer's opera Billy Budd, performed and recorded at Glyndebourne.
Sir Mark Elder conducts baritone Jacques Imbrailo in the title role and a cast which includes tenor John Mark Ainsley, bass Jeremy White and bass Matthew Rose.
'Jacques Imbrailo's Billy is a total joy,' wrote Andrew Clements in The Guardian, 'slight, lithe and wonderfully guileless, singing his farewell to life with immense dignity and pathos.'
To enter the competition answer the question below:
Who wrote the short novel on which Britten’s opera is based?
