Radio 3’s Sunday Concert comes live from the splendor of Powys Castle, Wales. Le Jardin Secret performs in the 17th-century ballroom in one of the Baroque Spring National Trust concerts.
The castle is the former home of a minister of James II who followed the King into exile in France in 1688.
The concert brings together works that the ruler would have heard in the French courts, including pieces by Couperin, Charpentier, Carissimi and court music director Innocenzo Fede.
The event is presented by Katie Derham, who will be joined by the Antique Roadshow’s Lars Tharp to discuss the history of the beautiful venue and its relationship with the music heard.
