Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837) was a renowned piano virtuoso, widely known and celebrated in his own time and long afterwards.
Reputed to have been Mozart’s favourite pupil, Hummel soon became the most sought-after piano teacher in Germany and he established principles that are still followed today.
