A live concert from Royal Festival Hall to celebrate 200 years since Wagner’s birth

This week marks the 200th anniversary of Wagner’s birth and BBC Radio 3 is celebrating with a special concert broadcast live from the Royal Festival Hall, London. Sir Andrew Davis will conduct the Philharmonia Orchestra in music from three of Wagner’s operas.
The preludes to Tristan und Isolde and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg will be performed and a highlight of the first half will be soprano Susan Bullock’s appearance for the Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde.
After a brief interval enjoy Act III of Die Walküre featuring Giselle Allen (soprano) as Sieglinde and James Rutherford (bass) as Wotan. Mariya Krywaniuk, Jennifer Johnston, Miriam Sharrad, Katherine Broderick, Magdalen Ashman, Antonia Sotgiu, Maria Jones and Elaine McKrill also star.
