On 10 August the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra will perform some of the most exciting music of the 20th century at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall – and we’ve got four pairs of tickets to give away!
Your evening will start with an exclusive pre-concert drinks reception at 7pm at the hall where you’ll be joined by members of the BBC Music Magazine editorial team, before you take your seats for the concert at 8pm.
The concert, which is supported by BBC Music Magazine, includes Varèse’s Amériques, a visceral musical depiction of New York which has references to the city's firetrucks, foghorns and police sirens.
But the programme, conducted by Ilan Volkov (above), opens with his sizzling Intégrales and closes with Luciano Berio’s Sinfonia, a virtuosic work of wit and colour which includes more than a few knowing nods to the music of Bach, Beethoven, Debussy and Berlioz. To find out more about the programme visit the Edinburgh International Festival website.
