Glyndebourne Festival Opera makes its annual trip to the BBC Proms this week with a performance of Britten’s Billy Budd.
The opera, based on a story by Herman Melville (of Moby Dick fame), tells the tragic tale of the young, innocent sailor Billy Budd who becomes a victim of events beyond his control on the ship HMS Indomitable.
Baritone Jacques Imbrailo (pictured right) sings the title role and tenor Mark Padmore sings Captain Vere, the seaman narrating the story.
