This Saturday, 7 September, the Royal Albert Hall plays host to the most famous date in the classical calendar, the Last Night of the Proms.

Violinist Nigel Kennedy and mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato join the BBC Symphony Chorus and Orchestra and, for the first time in Last Night history, they'll all be conducted by a woman – the brilliant Marin Alsop.

We spoke to Proms director Roger Wright about how this classical extravaganza is put together. The concert will be broadcast on BBC Two from 7.30pm and the second half will be live on BBC One from 9.20pm.
