Richard Egarr directs French Baroque favourites from Lully, Marais and Charpentier, live from Wigmore Hall
The orchestral and choral forces of the Academy of Ancient Music come together to celebrate the end of its season, performing a programme of French Baroque live from London's Wigmore Hall. Richard Egarr directs Lully's sacred De profundis, Charpentier's light-hearted Sonate à huit, and music by Marais. All three composers were keen favourites at the court of the 'Sun King', Louis XIV. Louis was a generous patron of the arts, bringing about a golden age in French Baroque.
