Lutosławski and Szymanowski
The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra performs Polish masterpieces
Ilan Volkov conducts the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in a live concert from the City Halls, Glasgow. As part of their Musika Polska Season the orchestra will perform works by two Polish composers from subsequent generations.
Witold Lutosławski’s Symphony No. 4 – a response to European modernism – is programmed alongside his virtuosic Concerto for Orchestra.
Songs of Fairytale Princess by Lutosławski’s tutor Karol Szymanowski will also be performed, with Polish soprano Olga Pasichnyk joining the orchestra.
