In his brand new series, Gareth Malone visits four busy workplaces to encourage connections and creativity between teams of employees. The Choir: Sing While You Work champions music’s power to bring people together and enhance cooperation. In the first episode Malone persuades employees of the Lewisham NHS Trust in South London to form a choir and they begin rehearsing REM’s Everybody Hurts. In the rest of the series Malone will go on to work with the Royal Mail in Bristol, Severn Trent Water, and workers at Manchester Airport and the four choirs will then compete with each other in 'sing-offs'. In the current issue of BBC Music Magazine Gareth Malone talks exclusively to Richard Morrison about the series.
