Over five episodes, choirs from different workplaces around the country have been getting to grips with team music-making under Gareth Malone’s enthusiastic guidance.

Now they must face one another at the Royal Academy of Music, where Malone studied. They undertake three days of intense tuition before performing some key works from the classical repertoire in front of world-class judges.

Birmingham City Council takes on Vivaldi while the Cheshire Firefighters tackle operatic Verdi. Sainsbury’s performs Schubert’s Ave Maria, P&O Ferries Mozart’s Lacrimosa and the Citi bankers have a go at Delibes’s ‘Flower Duet’.

They will be three of the most intense days of The Choir so far and it is time for Gareth to decide which groups are succeeding in musical excellence after spending weeks coaching them
