Jacqueline du Pré is remembered as one of the finest cellists of the 20th century. Her interpretation of Elgar’s Cello Concerto remains legendary and definitive, and the virtuosity she cultivated from so young an age was remarkable.
Christopher Nupen portrayed du Pré’s energetic personality and endless talent in his 1995 documentary and now it is being shown again on Sky Arts.
The film features interviews with Sir John Barbirolli and William Pleeth as well as footage from some of du Pré’s most famous performances.
