British performer and composer Michael Nyman joins Donald Macleod in a five-part series as Radio 3’s Composer of the Week.

In an exclusive conversation with the composer, Macleod discusses with Nyman his early influences and disillusionment, finding out how they eventually lead to the composer's many successful career.

Nyman’s distinctive soundworld, utilising repetition in minimalist chords, unconventional instrumental combinations and musical quotation, has earned him worldwide recognition. particularly as a film composer, with his score for the film The Piano winning him the prestigious Ivor Novello award.
