Despite barely receiving recognition as a composer, Weinberg's numerous symphonies and string quartets that are contrastingly well represented on CD. Macleod delves into these throughout the week and also explores the composer’s escape from Nazi-invaded Warsaw and his lifelong friendship with Shostakovich.
