Can Darwin's theory of natural selection be applied to music, as well as life? Scientists have designed an experiment to see if such a thing as the 'perfect song' can be created. Individuals choose which musical samples should survive and reproduce, and which ones should 'die out'. The results should raise questions about our understanding of creativity, and whether our musical preferences are based on creative genius or a 'survival of the fittest' model.
