The BBC Symphony Orchestra celebrates the end of its season with Brahms's virtuosic Violin Concerto in D, performed by Isabelle Faust. Chief Conductor Jiří Bělohlávek will give up his role at the end of the 2012 Proms season, when he will take him his new position as music director of the Czech Philharmonic, and this selection of Romantic music is sure to be an appropriate send off. Josef's Suk's The Ripening is also on the programme, with its stunning hymn of affirmation from a wordless female choir.
