James Rhodes: Notes From The Inside
James Rhodes explores classical music’s healing power
Pianist James Rhodes has built a reputation as a classical performer with a broad appeal. He has performed not only in concert halls but also at pop festivals and in TV broadcasts.
In this moving film, he meets and performs to patients at one of the UK’s largest psychiatric hospitals.
His belief in music’s power to bring hope coupled with the time he takes to listen to the patients’ backgrounds makes it a poignant watch.
Rhodes himself overcame depression earlier in life and attributes his recovery to the classical music he was able to listen to when his brother smuggled an MP3 player to him in hospital.
