Jazz On 3: Tomasz Stanko and his New York Quartet
Tomasz Stanko at the Barbican, London
Polish trumpeter Tomasz Stanko became well known for the pioneering jazz he created with Krzysztof Komeda in Krakow in the 1960s, and over the last 20 years has produced a range of acclaimed recordings on ECM.
Here is a chance to hear his lastest project at London’s Barbican. Joined by his New York Quartet – Thomas Morgan (bass), Gerald Cleaver (drums) and David Virelles (piano) – he will perform jazz that takes inspiration from the poetry of Wisława Szymborska.
Expect lyrical riffs, with plenty of space and no compromise on a brilliant atmosphere.
