Kent Nagano conducts classical masterpieces
Kent Nagano conducts Bruckner's Eighth Symphony in the first programme of a new series that explores six pivotal works of classical music
Bruckner's music failed to be accepted in Vienna during his lifetime. But his Eighth Symphony has come to be known as the ‘the crown of 19th-century music’, with many viewing it as the very peak of the 19th-century symphonic genre. The context and interpretation of the work is explored through this programme and it concludes with a performance of the work by the German Symphony Orchestra, Berlin.
