Live from the City of London Festival
A world première from Judith Bingham, performed by the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment
The Orchestra of the Age of the Enlightenment and Nicholas Cleobury perform live from the City of London Festival, celebrating Judith Bingham’s 60th birthday with a world première of her piece, The Hythe. Bingham was commissioned to write the piece as a partner to her organ concerto, Jacob’s Ladder – both works use the same number of strings in a small ensemble. To complement the new work from Bingham, the concert also includes Handel’s Organ Concerto No. 15 in D, which uses a similar string ensemble to accompany the soloist. The concert concludes with the addition of countertenor Andrew Radley and soprano Claire Seaton, who will perform Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater.
