Mirella Freni: A Life Devoted To Opera
A portrait of an Italian soprano
Mirella Freni made her operatic debut in Modena playing the role of Micaela in Bizet’s Carmen. From there she went on to perform in Donizetti's L’elisir d’amore, Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni at Glyndebourne. Over her 50-year career Freni has performed on the world’s largest opera stages, playing over 40 different roles. This documentary follows the soprano giving a masterclass at the Centro Universale del Bel Canto in Vigola. Her passion for nurturing young talent is evident, as is her enduring influence on generations of opera singers.
