Hear and Now
Jonathan Harvey’s Buddhist-inspired work, The Summer Cloud’s Awakening, for SATB choir, solo flute, cello and electronics is given a rare performance by The Nash Ensemble, resident chamber ensemble at Wigmore Hall. The piece uses Buddhist verses and a phrase from Act II of Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde to explore the idea that life and death are only dreams. Coupled with the spiritual Song Offerings and Schaeffer’s Symphonie pour un homme seul, this is the perfect programme for a meditational Saturday night.
