Tenor Peter Wedd takes the title role in Antony McDonald’s new production of Wagner’s Lohengrin for Welsh National Opera. Soprano Emma Bell plays Elsa of Brabant and mezzo-soprano Susan Bickley is Ortrud.

Lohengrin is often described as Wagner’s ‘Romantic’ opera. Set in the 10th century, the plot contains themes of love and loyalty and explores what happens when they're pushed to extremes.

BBC Radio 3’s Donald Macleod and theatre historian Sarah Lenton will be on hand to introduce the Welsh National Opera’s new production.
