Prom 33: Beethoven & Berlioz
Live from the Royal Albert Hall, London
Performing with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Mariss Jansons, Uchida presents a piece that, when it was written, extended the traditional notion of a concerto, opening as it does with a simple solo piano statement before going on to push the soloist and ensemble to their very limits, both technically and emotionally.
After the interval the orchestra will perform Berlioz’s groundbreaking Symphonie fantastique.
